劉曉江，居香港，10歲學習鋼琴，學士修習作曲及電子音樂，於香港演藝學院畢業；碩士畢業於香港城市大學創意媒體學院。現工作內容主要圍繞表演、聲音、音樂及教育工作。 早年創作建基於古典音樂作曲的影響，對於創作更專注於非現場性的計算、編排、理論化過程；到近年受表演藝術及派對文化的影響，轉而更多地關注現場的具身經驗——從行動到觀察及聆聽。由此在創作上也從編排（composing）漸漸傾向於更多的即興，同時在教育工作上也從理論融入更多的實踐及類工作坊的內容，現於香港大學及香港演藝學院任客席講師，並於其他各種場景主持工作坊。 劉早年主要以作曲家身分參與亞洲作曲家同盟大會及音樂節、香港藝術節等演出平台；後期則更常以聲音藝術家、表演者身分出席MUTEK（日本及蒙特利爾）、Nxt Museum、Artechouse Live等媒體藝術節及展覽。 Lawrence Lau Hiu Kong is a Hong Kong-based artist, musician, and educator. He studied composition and electronic music at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and received an MFA in Creative Media from City University of Hong Kong. His work primarily encompasses performance, sound, music, and education. His early practice, shaped by classical composition, focused on the non-live aspects of creation—calculation, arrangement, and theorisation. In recent years, influenced by performing arts and party culture, his attention has shifted towards live, embodied experience—from action to observation and listening. Accordingly, his creative practice has moved from composing towards greater improvisation, while his teaching has incorporated more practice-based and workshop-like content. He currently serves as a visiting lecturer at The University of Hong Kong and The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and leads workshops in various other contexts. In his early career, Lau primarily participated in platforms such as the Asian Composers League Conference and Festival and the Hong Kong Arts Festival as a composer. In recent years, he has more frequently appeared as a sound artist and performer at media-art festivals and exhibitions including MUTEK Japan and MUTEK Montreal, Nxt Museum, and Artechouse Live.
