The two dancers maintain close physical contact throughout multiple sections of the work, generating movement through mutual support, counterbalance, leaning, and pulling against each other's weight.
In both its choreography and rhythmic structure, conte 01零壹 intertwines fluid, organic movement with mechanical qualities, enhanced by breath control to create a highly charged and dynamic texture. Through dense partner work and intricate bodily interactions, the piece crafts refined duets and striking visual compositions. Beginning with the coordination and transformation of four hands, the choreography develops from this simple physical concept, gradually expanding to create the illusion of "twins" or "conjoined bodies."
conte 01零壹 received the Jury Prize at the SAI Dance Festival 2026 Competition in Tokyo, and was subsequently invited to perform at the 12th Buddhism Dance Festival in Seoul and the AKIHA International Dance Festival in Niigata.
