Dance plays a prominent role on our physical, emotional and spiritual development. Along with the studies on dancers’ well-being across their training and career, there has been increasedresearches on the positive and therapeutic impacts of creative dance on our wellness and rehabilitation.
To raise awareness on dancers’ well-being and facilitate the development of Dance for Health programs, the Hong Kong Dance Alliance presents a series of workshops and sharing, providing platforms for dance practitioners and other professionals to exchange their experience and insights, co-creating a positive momentum in the community through dance.

Andy wong
Festival Ambassador
Andy is one of the most active and distinguished dance artists and choreographers in Hong Kong. He graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts majoring in ballet and joined the Hong Kong Ballet and the City Contemporary Dance Company. Andy later founded DanceArt Hong Kong and DancingAngels. Andy is a four-time Dance Award winner presented by Hong Kong Dance Alliance. In 2006, Andy received the ‘Persons with Outstanding Contributions to the Development of Arts and Culture Award’ from the Home Affairs Bureau. In 2007, Andy was the first dance artist ever to receive the ‘Art Achievement Award’ from the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. In 2012, Andy received the ‘Chief Executive's Commendation for Community Service’ from the Hong Kong SAR Government as a recognition of his influential and continual contribution to the society.

Trained in ballet from age 6, a member of both The Royal Ballet, London's Festival Ballet (now English National Ballet) and performed in West End musicals, Film and TV. Terry is in a unique position to understand the mental health needs of dancers and uses that in his therapy sessions and mental health self-care workshops worldwide.

The first Dance for PD® certified teaching artist in Australia, Erica Rose holds a PhD in Creative Industries focusing on Dance and Peacebuilding from Queensland University of Technology. She has been the driving force behind successful Dance for Parkinson’s programs in all major Australian cities, and has conducted more than a dozen teacher training workshops in Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea and China.

Dr. Melody hiu-ying Fung

Dr. Melody Hiu-Ying Fung advocates for the connection between body and self through ballet. As the Company Wellness Counsellor for the Hong Kong Ballet, she specialises in "Artists' Well-being" and "Dance for Health," integrating arts into psychological counselling. Melody actively collaborates with community groups to offer dance therapy and mindfulness yoga for promoting holistic well-being among dancers and individuals with chronic illnesses.

Professor Rainbow Tin-hung ho

Professor Ho Tin Hung is an experienced researcher, professor, therapist and artist. Professor Ho's research interests cover creative and expressive arts therapy, mind-body medicine, psychophysiology, spirituality and movement. She has published more than 200 papers in international journals and received numerous awards. Professor Ho is currently involved in the steering committees of the World Health Organisation's Arts and Health Research Laboratory, the International Creative Arts Therapy Research Alliance and the Neuroscience and Dance Therapy Research Network.

Danny is currently the trainer of Symbiotic Dance Troupe (CCCD), a DanceAbility teacher and the organizing Committee of the 3rd Hong Kong International Inclusive Dance Festival. For the past ten years, Mr. Danny Pin has been using body percussions, drum circle, dance and body movement as tools for leading personal growth, individual creativity, individual wellbeing as well as community inclusion togetherness. Danny also aspires to cultivate the interest and potential of persons with disabilities in dance development and develop their talents in individual creativity and wellbeing; ensuring the choreography not only showcases the unique abilities of each dancer but also tells powerful stories that resonate with audiences.

Andy Lee graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, majoring in contemporary dance. Began training at the Jean M. Wong School of Ballet at the age of 12. Has participated in performances and workshops at arts festivals in Japan, South Korea, Taipei, Beijing, Shanghai, and Guiyang. Since 2019, has actively promoted the #BeyondDance public participation project together with creative director Ong Yong Lock, focusing on movement-based teaching and creation for the elderly. Major works include Crossing, 1,2... Two and a Half, and Traces.

Lau Tin Ming is the Senior Project Manager of the Jockey Club Dance Well Project. He is a MPhil graduate from The University of Hong Kong, majoring in Art History and Comparative Literature. He has more than a decade of experience in planning and implementing arts education programmes. He is a certified yoga instructor with over ten years of yoga education experience. Through yoga, he takes students on an exploration of the relationship between body, breath, and mind. He also works with university, museums and community partners to bring mindfulness practices into diverse communities. Jockey Club Dance Well Project has been recognized by the 24th Hong Kong Dance Awards (Outstanding Dance Education or Community Dance) in 2023, and the 19th Hong Kong Arts Development Awards (Award for Arts Promotion and Education) in 2025.

Research Assistant Professor Dr. Wang holds a PhD in Social Work from HKU (2019) and a Master of Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania (2014). As a researcher, her interests encompass gerontology, psychological well-being, the intersection of religiosity and spirituality with mental health, and contemplative practices, particularly mindfulness. In her capacity as a social work practitioner, Vicky integrates holistic healthcare, mindfulness-based interventions, and cognitive-behavioral therapy approaches. She collaborates with individuals grappling with various mental health concerns and conducts workshops and training sessions that foster spiritual well-being, address burnout among helping professionals, and enhance the spiritual health of the general population in Hong Kong. Furthermore, Dr. Wang possesses expertise in teaching courses that delve into subjects such as big data analysis, artificial intelligence in healthcare, and social work research methods.

Crista Kwok is a Dance Movement Therapist with an MSc in Counselling Psychology from The University of Hong Kong. With over 3,000 hours of clinical experience, she is a registered senior-level therapist (R-DMT, Board Eligible). She has worked across hospitals, schools, universities, NGOs, and corporate settings, delivering therapy, workshops, and training. Her practice focuses on evidence-based body–mind integration to regulate the nervous system and emotions. She provides programmes for individuals in recovery, women, the elderly, and those with dementia or Parkinson’s disease, including fall-prevention and somatic interventions. She also collaborates with medical professionals to promote public health.

Candy Lo is a Board-Certified Dance Movement Therapist, a Registered Drama Therapist/Board Certified Trainer and a Certified Child Life Specialist, A National Certified Counsellor and is Certified in Thanatology: Death, Dying and Bereavement. She is the Honorary Advisor and past president of Hong Kong Dance Movement Therapy Association. Candy has a long history with the HKAPA, first as a junior dance student then as a diploma graduate at the School of Drama before finishing her BA in Musical Theatre Dance at London Studio Centre in the UK.

Dr. Adrian Wan is a researcher, educator, registered social worker, and compassion-informed psychotherapist at the Centre on Behavioral Health, The University of Hong Kong. He obtained his PhD under the Faculty of Social Sciences, HKU; and had attended postgraduate trainings in HKU and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He is currently the Deputy Director of the Master of Social Sciences (Behavioral Health) Program at HKU. Dr. Wan’s research focuses on applying mindfulness-based interventions to enhance the well-being of individuals.

May Au, originally from Hong Kong, is a wellness and movement specialist with over 20 years of experience in contemporary dance, international performances, and somatic education including a featured performance at the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. A graduate of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in Contemporary Dance, she integrates body mechanics and movement knowledge into massage therapy and Qigong instruction. She is a certified Tai Chi Qigong Shibashi instructor and the founder of Zen Qi, a holistic wellness studio based in London. Her work focuses on integrative healing through therapeutic massage, Qigong, and movement based practices to support emotional release, stress management, and physical recovery for clients of all ages.

Joseph Ng Cheuk Yin is a U.S. Board-Certified Dance Movement Therapist (BC-DMT) and social worker, with a background in dance from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. He brings a wide range of embodied practices, including dance, yoga, fitness, swimming, and martial arts, into his integrative therapeutic approach. Joseph specialises in working with individuals with special educational needs, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and ADHD, using movement to enhance communication, emotional regulation, and self-expression. He also supports older adults, particularly those with dementia, through therapeutic interventions designed to improve cognitive function and overall quality of life.

Chan Wing Yip is a professional street dance instructor, cultural promoter, and stage performer. In 2014, he led the Hong Kong Baptist University to win the championship and the Best Choreography Award at the Intercollegiate Dance Competition. From 2014 to 2017, the school he taught at, the Chinese Women’s Association Fung Yaojing Memorial School, won the overall championship in street dance and jazz dance for three consecutive years. His dance troupe has excelled in local choreography competitions and various Battle contests, including winning the 2012-13 UDC Street Dance Contest and the 2016 You Hiphop All Style 4on4. He also participated in the Halloween performances at Hong Kong Ocean Park, winning the Best Performance Program Award for his innovative style. Moreover, Chan is active in commercial performances and theatrical productions and has served as a judge in various competitions. As a founding member and chairman of the Hong Kong Street Dance Development Alliance from 2018 to 2021, he is committed to promoting dance culture. He also engages in youth art education through the non-profit organization Loving Arts, helping young people grow through street dance and various art forms.

Lai Tak Wai, an esteemed Pilates and GYROTONIC®️ instructor, prioritizes refining body movement in his training sessions. His unwavering commitment lies in empowering individuals to attain peak physical fitness and overall well-being. Drawing from his accolades as a modern dancer, he possesses a profound wealth of knowledge in body movement and artistic realms. Throughout his academic journey, Lai was awarded multiple scholarships, demonstrating his dedication to expanding his knowledge. His curiosity led him to explore Pilates and GYROTONIC®️ training during his time at the academy. After recently obtaining his GYROTONIC®️ Level 1 & level 2 certification, Lai is now a certified GYROTONIC®️ instructor. Furthermore, he successfully completed the demanding Polestar Pilates Comprehensive teacher training program.

eve mei-kar leung

Eve is a performer, teacher and choreographer graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 1998 majoring in Musical Theatre Dance. She is a founder of R&T (Rhythm & Tempo) Tap Company. Eve had performed for Music Theatre of Wichita and Fulton Opera in the U.S.; also worked with Nexis Drama and Tap Troupe in Toronto after she graduated. She was a consultant for children dance program and instructor of Tap and Jazz at EXCEL of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, also one of the choreographer and tutor in at ÉLAN Lost Child Project HK in 2020. She is now a dance educator at R&T (Rhythm & Tempo) and part-time Tap tutor at The Hong Kong Children’s Choir. In 2019, she graduated from The University of Hong Kong with a master’s degree of Expressive Arts Therapy and was awarded the Madam Lo Ng Kiu Ying Anita Memorial Prize. She is currently a Registered Arts Therapist (AThR) of The Australian, New Zealand and Asian Creative Arts Therapies Association (ANZACATA). By applying expressive arts which are dance/movement, music and visual arts in the therapeutic process, Eve has worked with various populations including students with visual impairment, children with autism, adolescents with SEN as well as the elderly at non-government organizations (NGOs) and schools.

Peng Zhang
Teaching Artist
Peng Zhang graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with an MFA in Dance (Choreography) in 2012 and an MFA in Drama (Directing) in 2022. He is also a teaching artist with the HKAPA School of Dance and the Hong Kong Jockey Club “Touching” Dance Programme. His music theatre work Water Chamber, which he directed and performed in, was the first commissioned theatre production by the Shanghai Concert Hall. His choreographic and performance work Returning Spirits has been presented in over 20 cities worldwide. Peng also regularly conducts workshops on integrated voice–body–mind practices, art therapy, and community engagement.

Derek Lum

Derek Lum is an Expressive Arts Therapist, dancer, and dance instructor, who graduated with a Master of Expressive Arts Therapy from The University of Hong Kong, Has provided Expressive Arts-based educational programs, counseling, and therapy for various schools and organizations, covering but not limited to areas such as emotional/mental health, social communication, and mind-body integration. Also experienced in conducting dance classes incorporating expressive arts, choreography, and community arts projects. Previously served as a clinical research therapist at the Centre on Behavioral Health at The University of Hong Kong and participated as a researcher in various academic studies related to arts and health. Currently works as an adjunct lecturer and researcher at the Wong Bing Lai Music and Performing Arts Unit, Lingnan University.

Pocky law

Pocky Law Hiu Yan is a registered social worker and an active house dancer based in Hong Kong. She graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and has worked with organizations such as the Hong Kong Red Cross and The Lutheran Church—Hong Kong Synod, where she facilitated art therapy and body-mind-spirit workshops. Pocky is deeply involved in the local street dance and performance scene. She was a top 8 finalist in the Road Trip House Battle, and performed in BDT’s Train of Thought (2023, Hong Kong) and Body Echo (2024, Sweden). In recent years, she studied somatics and dance-related courses in Sweden and completed an intensive movement therapy program at Codarts Rotterdam in the Netherlands. As an artist passionate about the connection between body, mind, and spirit, Pocky believes in the healing power of art. Through movement and poetry, she explores and expresses her inner emotional world. She is the creator of the Instagram platform “Move Out Check In,” where she shares dance therapy concepts, psychological insights, and embodied practices in an engaging and accessible way—hoping to bring the transformative power of art into everyday life and the wider community.

Vinci mok

Vinci Mok is a Butoh artist and interdisciplinary performance practitioner, working across sensory-based and community-oriented creative practices. She trained under various senior and internationally renowned teachers from India, Nepal, Europe, and the United States, and holds internationally recognized certifications in yoga, sound healing (including gong and singing bowls), as well as practices in meridian therapy and Reiki energy healing. She studied drama at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, later pursuing non-verbal physical expression through diverse traditions, including contemporary and traditional movement, mask theatre, Noh, puppetry, and performance art. Vinci has been a member of multiple dance companies, including a Butoh ensemble in Japan, and has collaborated with artists and groups across Asia. Her work has been presented internationally across Europe and Asia, where she is also invited to teach and perform. She has served as a guest artist and educator at universities, performing arts institutions, schools, and community organisations in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Artsompana

Artsompana is Hong Kong’s first charity organization founded by a disabled person, promoting inclusive arts. It provides a platform for individuals with various disabilities to unleash their artistic talents and earn dignified remuneration. At the same time, it advocates for an inclusive society that supports physical, psychological, social, and spiritual well-being. We believe that everyone has the right to appreciate and participate in arts. We have organized numerous performances and training programmes, including projects funded by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, Leisure and Cultural Services Department, Social Welfare Department, and Equal Opportunities Commission. We have also provided art activities to kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, universities, and various social service organizations. We serve children, families, the elders, and people with disabilities such as visual impairment, hearing impairment, physical disability, intellectual disability, and neurodivergence. Our key members include the Founder Mr. Comma Chan, a drama educator who became blind later in life and was honored as Hong Kong Ten Outstanding Young Persons in 2016. Programma Director Ms Scarlette Cheng is a certified DanceAbility® Master Teacher and registered social worker, received the 31st Outstanding Social Worker Award (2021-2022).

ho Ka-yi

Ho Ka-yi is an accomplished practitioner in dance and arts management. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Dance Performance from Chongqing University and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Arts Management at Beijing Dance Academy. She has extensive experience in dance therapy, notably through the “Medical Dance Integration” project, where she led planning and implementation in collaboration with eight major hospitals, serving over 500 healthcare professionals and patients. Her work has been recognised by several national innovation programmes and awards. Committed to cultural exchange, she has also organised youth dance initiatives between Chongqing and Hong Kong, fostering cross-cultural artistic development.

Frankie Ho is the co-curator of Noon Disco; Upon graduation from the Musical Theatre Dance Programme of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), Frankie continued her dance studies in the US at the Purchase campus of the State University of New York and the Broadway Dance Centre in New York City, funded by the Music and Dance Fund Scholarship of the Hong Kong Jockey Club. Frankie had also been a part-time dance instructor for her alma mater HKAPA (1998-2014) and teaching artist of Jockey Club Dance Well Project.

Zoe is the co-curator of Noon Disco; She is a local artist and curator in theatre and contemporary dance for more than 10 years. She graduated with the Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Practice at University of Exeter (UK). Zoe founded Collab Bazaar in 2024 to focus on placemaking, with the approach of "creative health" - utilizing artistic methods to improve the physical and mental wellbeing of the elderly. Our creative services include the "Noon Disco" dance program and the "Dancing Weaves" project.
