The Hong Kong Dance Award 2010 for Outstanding Achievement in Youth Dance is presented to CCDC Dance Centre and Guangdong Modern Dance Company for Youth Dance . Two Cities - Hong Kong . Guangzhou. In this modern dance education and performance project for young people, participants from Guangzhou and Hong Kong learn from each other and perform together, building a dance network and fostering cultural exchange in the Pearl River Delta. While nurturing new dancers, the project has charmed audiences and helped make dance central to the lives of people in both cities.

The Hong Kong Dance Award 2010 is presented to the City Contemporary Dance Company for its incandescent production of As If to Nothing. In this incisive inquest into the impermanence of memory, City Contemporary Dance Company invites its dancers and audiences to stretch from the safe havens of lyricism, sensuality, and neat cadences into an embrace of the exhilarating realms of fragmentation, distortion, and uncertainty.

The Hong Kong Dance Award 2010 for Outstanding Performance by a Female Dancer is presented to Han Mei for her impeccable performance in the Passoverdance production of Homecoming. A compendium of twitches, an encyclopedia of tics, Han Mei's remarkable rendering of a woman moving at warp speed is as dazzling as a multi-faceted gemstone. She dances for her life, and yet is coolly, supremely in control of everything she does.

The Hong Kong Dance Award 2010 is presented to Hong Kong Dance Company for its daring production of Princess Changping. Moving back and forth from traditional to contemporary, past to present, the imaginary boundary between the dance and the audience, this brilliant deconstruction of episodes in the life of the Ming dynasty princess, enables contemporary audiences to experience new richness and depth in this beloved tale.

The Hong Kong Dance Award 2010 for Outstanding Performance by a Male Dancer is presented to Huang Lei for his exceptional performance in the Hong Kong Dance Company production of Everlasting Love. Huang's intensely danced and dramatically moving portrayal of a contemporary character whose solitary yearning for love brings to life events from renowned Chinese love stories, and who, having finally found love, loses it, resonates with truth, from beginning to end.

The Hong Kong Dance Award 2010 for Outstanding Achievement in Services to Dance is presented to Leo Cheung for his beautiful lighting design of the City Contemporary Dance Company production of Dao Extraordinaire. Cheung's technically masterful and artistically fluent lighting endows Dao Extraordinaire with the architecture of light and space that illuminates its tripartite themes of Heaven, Earth, and Mankind. Cheung's design amplifies the choreographic vision, bringing it to life with resplendent light.

The Hong Kong Dance Award 2010 for Outstanding Performance by a Female Dancer is presented to Liu Yu-yao for her magnificent performance in the Hong Kong Ballet production of Romeo and Juliet. Liu is an actress-dancer of extraordinary ability and range. Her Juliet is alive in every detail from the opening scene with her Nurse to her agony at Romeo's death. She is Shakespeare's Juliet - gauche, willful, stubborn, and filled with the terrible, unquestioning courage of youth.

The Hong Kong Dance Award 2010 for Outstanding Achievement in Independent Dance is presented to Pewan Chow for the Passoverdance production of the inspiring Homecoming. Through a series of sketches, Chow deftly evokes the power and centrality of values to human experience. Her ideas unfold subtly and gently, through episodes that explore maternal and filial love, friendship, loss, solace, joy, and the edge of madness. The sum is a reaffirmation of faith in the human spirit.

The Hong Kong Dance Award 2010 for Outstanding Achievement in Choreography is presented to Sang Jijia for his choreography of As If to Nothing. In his work, Sang wrestles with memory's dissonance by pushing the dancers into uncharted terrain in which they seem balanced on precipices and contorted by interior battles or the manipulations of partners. In As If to Nothing, Sang masterfully explores the conflict between memory's mutable landscape and its indelible landmarks.
