Dance Productions - School Tour and Outreach

2005 International Arts Carnival

2005.1.1

Hans Christian Andersen's "The Emperor's New Clothes" is so familiar to everyone that it might easily be dismissed as simply a tale only for children, overlooking its deeper meaning and much of its fun. In the summer of 2005, commissioned by the LCSD, Hong Kong Dance Alliance "updated" the story and bring to HK audiences a surprising Dance. The Emperor's New Clothes.

Why did the Emperor want so many clothes? How did he see himself in his mirror? What were the mirror's opinions? Are the Weavers merely con men with a fantastic con? What was on the child's mind when he pointed out the truth?

Touring to 50 primary schools and 20 outdoor venues, the performances let children discover the problems and answers through appreciating and participating.
