Following the direction of ‘New Force in Motion’ Series, 'Dance New Motion' presents new dance video works of emerging choreographers. It aims to provide a professional platform for them to showcase their choreography, encourage local arts development and stimulate creativity under the new normal for the arts amid the pandemic.

DanceHub Lecture Series makes a glory return! Hong Kong Dance Alliance (HKDA) has invited three experts to share their professional knowledge and experience in mediation, insurance and legal issues. Participants would be able to learn more about practical information other than artistic creation. Friends from different performing disciplines are also welcome.

Dance Sector Gathering

Dance Sector Gathering

 

Since our gathering in April last year, the dance sector has continued to be impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, especially those working in dance education.

 

Daniel Yeung(楊春江), the Chairman of the Dance Art Form Group of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, would like to meet with all members of the dance sector again to discuss long-term support plans and development. He would also like to introduce the new grant category “Research / Archiving / Critique / Publication in Dance” of HKADC – which targets dance teachers and also dance artists who had to cancel their productions last year.

In response to the development of the pandemic and relevant disease prevention measures, there will be a quota on the number of attendees. Natalie Mak & Poon Chun Ho: Dancers Audition

 

Choreographers Natalie Mak and Poon Chun Ho are now looking for dancers to perform in their new works in September 2021.

 

Audition Details

Date: 10/04/2021 (Saturday)

Time: 14:30 - 18:30

Venue: City Contemporary Dance Company CCDC Dance Centre

 

Requirements

- Performing experience is necessary

- Performers of any dance, theatre and/or movement genre background are welcome

 

Audition Format

- Audition will be held in the form of a workshop

- Participants will need to prepare a solo of approximately 1-2 minutes

* Dress code: Any clothing that is comfortable or convenient for body movement / exercise

Rehearsal Period: 04/2021-09/2021

Move-in and Performance Period: 06-12/09/2021

Performance Venue:  Black Box Theatre, Kwai Tsing Theatre

//About Natalie Mak//

Natalie Mak graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) with Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) Degree, majoring in Chinese Dance. During her studies, she was awarded The Spring Time Stage Production Scholarship and twice awarded the Disney Scholarship. She was the representative of HKAPA to perform in Italy and Taiwan. Natalie has been a full-time dancer with the City Contemporary Dance Company since 2014 to 2020. She has worked with a number of emerging choreographers and arts organisations, and has performed in a wide range of dance performances in Hong Kong. Natalie is now actively involved in dance teaching and related work. She is also a Yoga Teacher (RYT®) with Yoga Alliance and a Certified Flyoga® Teacher.

 

//About Poon Chun Ho//

Poon Chun Ho is the core member of Beyond Dance Theater, freelance performer and theatre educator. He won the Distinct Actor Award at the 11th Hong Kong Theatre Libre with “Castle of Glass” produced by Hong Kong Repertory Theatre. Poon graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) with Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) Degree, majoring in Acting. After graduation, he joined Theatre du Pif with the support of Hong Kong Arts Development Council and became a full-time intern actor. In 2015, he cooperated with a contemporary dance company from Singapore, The ARTS FISSION, and he was the Assistant Choreographer in the piece “Anonymous”. In 2018, Poon was invited to join the Professional Intensive Training Workshop by Gecko Theatre in UK. From 2015 – 2018, Poon was a part-time instructor at the School of Drama and School of Dance at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing arts.

‘New Force in Motion’ Series: Chan Wai Lok, Sudhee Liao, Alice Ma

 

**In view of the latest situation of COVID-19, all LCSD venues are temporarily closed for live performances until further notice. 'New Force in Motion' Series: Chan Wai Lok, Sudhee Liao, Alice Ma scheduled on 31 Dec 2020 – 2 Jan 2021 at Black Box Theatre, Kwai Tsing Theatre has been cancelled.

 

Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department(LCSD), the Hong Kong Dance Alliance(HKDA) will produce the upcoming 'New Force in Motion' Series, and stage 4 public performances on 31 December 2020 to 2 January 2021 at Kwai Tsing Theatre Black Box Theatre. The Series will showcase 3 new works by three local emerging choreographers: Chan Wai Lok, Sudhee Liao and Alice Ma.

 

'New Force in Motion' Series aims to offer a professional platform for emerging choreographers to showcase choreography, encourage development, and stimulate creativity. This year, HKDA produced the Series for the fourth consecutive year, to continue the shared vision for dance development, and to facilitate the professional production process.
