The 18th Hong Kong Dance Awards - Shortlisted Nominations Announced
8 March 2016 - Hong Kong Dance Alliance (HKDA) announces the Shortlist for the Hong Kong Dance Awards 2016 (see below for all 31 shortlisted candidates). Recipients, including for the Lifetime Achievement Award, will be announced during the 18th Hong Kong Dance Awards Presentation & Gala Performance held on 22 April 2016 (Friday), 8pm at Kwai Tsing Theatre Auditorium.
After review of all nominated work by expert panels of dance professionals, the 140-plus nominations received this year in 9 award categories were shortlisted through secret ballot. A final ballot will be held in March, when panelists will be joined by all members of the HKDA Executive Committee to decide the Awards.
HKDA is delighted to welcome the renowned tap dancer, former Lecturer of Theatre Dance and Coordinator of the Gifted Young Dancer Programme of Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), Mandy Petty, as Artistic Director for this year’s Gala. Generously sponsored by the Leisure and Culture Services Department, the Gala gives dance lovers the unique opportunity to enjoy performances by Hong Kong’s leading dance artists in one glorious evening of dance. Among other group performing will be the Hong Kong Ballet, Hong Kong Dance Company, City Contemporary Dance Company, as well as the HKAPA School of Dance.
Since 1999, the Hong Kong Dance Awards have celebrated outstanding achievements in the Hong Kong dance field and recognized artists and organizations for their contributions to the development of dance in Hong Kong. Artists honored in the past include Jean Wong, Willy Tsao, Helen Lai, Yuri Ng, Mui Cheuk Yin, Aaron Kwok, and Jackie Chan.
Tickets for the Hong Kong Dance Awards 2016 will be available at URBTIX (www.urbtix.com) from 17 March onwards.
