2015 Hong Kong Dance Awards - shortlisted nominations announced
Hong Kong Dance Alliance (HKDA) announced today that 32 nominations in 10 categories have been shortlisted for the 2015 Hong Kong Dance Awards (see below for complete shortlist). The prestigious Distinguished Achievement Award will also be presented this year.
The shortlists are determined by an expert panel of dance professionals who review all nominations, then vote on them in a secret ballot. A final ballot will be held in March, when the panelists will be joined by all members of the HKDA Executive Committee to decide the Awards.
The Awards will be presented at the 2015 Hong Kong Dance Awards Gala Performance held on 17 April 2015 (Friday), 8pm at Kwai Tsing Theatre Auditorium.
HKDA is delighted to welcome David Liu, former Olympic figure-skater and internationally renowned choreographer, as Artistic Director for this year’s Gala. The Gala gives dance lovers a unique opportunity to see performances by many of Hong Kong’s leading dance artists in the same evening. This year these include The Hong Kong Ballet, Hong Kong Dance Company, and City Contemporary Dance Company, as well as the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. The performance is generously sponsored by the Leisure and Culture Services Department.
Since 1999, the Hong Kong Dance Awards have celebrated outstanding achievement in the Hong Kong dance field and recognized artists and organizations for their contribution to the development of dance in Hong Kong. Artists honoured in the past include Willy Tsao, Helen Lai, Yuri Ng, Mui Cheuk Yin, Aaron Kwok, and Jackie Chan.
Tickets for the 2015 Hong Kong Dance Awards will be available at URBTIX (www.urbtix.com) from 17 March onwards.
